Travel Tuesdays: Carnival Towel Animals

The monkey hanging from our cabin ceiling
Each evening after dinner we would enter our room to a surprise animal creation made from folded towels. After hearing other cruisers laughing how they had the infamous hanging monkey, I wanted to see it for myself. I presented the request to our cabin steward, and he did a fabulous job.

Below are the other animals our cabin steward created for us. By the way, the cabin stewards take classes on how to fold the towels into animals. The day before we arrived back into Charleston a class was offered to cruisers to learn as well.

Still not sure of what animal this is. What do you think?
An alligator or is it a shark?

A stingray wearing Clemson glasses.

The elephant wearing our mom's sun glasses.

If you have been on a Carnival cruise, which animal did you enjoy the most? Comment below.

Travel Tuesdays: Life on a Cruise

Rhonda (left), Sharee (right) are all SMILES
as they departed on Carnival Fantasy.
We arose every morning to either walk on jogging track (14th level) or work out in the exercise room (12th level).

My mom, sister, and I walked
on the jogging track in the mornings.

We had breakfast after our daily exercise.

Activities on the ship.

Water park for both kids and adults.
Sun bathing, swimming in the pool,
and relaxing in the hot tub
Other activities on the cruise include camp Carnival for kids (day camp); dancing contests; hairy chest contests; line dancing ("Cupid Shuffle" & "The Wobble" played often); professional photography;  a casino; several night clubs; various entertainment shows (singing & dancing); and comedians for families (7:30pm) and Adult content (after 9:30pm).

We would then settle back to our cabin area after a day of exercise, eating, and relaxation.  We "Thanked the Lord" for the beautiful scenery we were able to witness and the conversations we had with people we met from various states. Finally, in quietness of our room, we rested our bodies in anticipation of the new and exciting adventures of what the next day will unfold.

What is your favorite activity on a cruise? Comment below.

Travel Tuesdays: A Look Through Photos During Our 7-Night Cruise

The Lido deck coming to life.
Although I'm sick as I'm typing this blog post, I still feel rejuvenated from the 7 night cruise to The Bahamas & The Grand Turks. My sister, mom, and I cruised on the Carnival Fantasy out of the Charleston, SC port.

If you have have never taken a cruise, you need to RUN--SPRINT to a vacation cruise website or talk to a travel agent NOW. Over the next several weeks we will post pictures from our cruise. However, they will not be on consecutive Travel Tuesdays. We have a few guest bloggers contributing to our blog site about upcoming Holiday travel tips, as well.

Here are a few of the breath taking cruise pictures below.

Travel Tuesdays: 5 Tips When Planning A Cruise

Sharee and I love cruising. This week we are cruising from the Charleston, SC port to Nassau, Bahamas; Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; and The Grand Turks. This will be our longest cruise at 7 nights. Below are tips we did or will do to to save money.

1. Know how much you can afford and the time you have to cruise away.  If your budget will be tight, try eating out less during the week for the next 6-9 months. Use those days to prepare meals at home and bring left over food for lunch.  In that time, you can save upward of $50-$75 a month which can pay for a 3, 5, 7 or 9 day cruise.  You should also factor in the cost of getting to the port destination which can be made via automobile or by air.

2. Talk to a travel agent.  If you are a past cruiser you can get an upgrade in cabin level and excellent travel deals during specific seasons.

3. Look for cruise deals online.  Sign up for cruise deals or visit the cruiseline website directly.  Many have deals listed, but you must act within a certain limit of time before it is SOLD out or expires.  Popular cruise lines include Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian.

4. Pay reduced or sometimes half off prices for Spa services when docked at a Port.  A friend who cruises often said I could get a nice facial or massage for about half the price when docked at a port for 10-12 hours. They want the business on the ship rather than you spending money at the port.

5. Finally, eat & drink as much as you can on the cruise ship when docked at a Port. You are allowed to exit and re-enter the ship as often as you want while docked at a port.  The only exception is if the location you are docked at is a long distance from the city center.  This is not a problem in the Bahamas, but European ports are often far from the city center.

What tips do you have when cruising?
